i have been playing project sekai since september of 2023. i have really only missed a few days inbetween starting, probably only enough to count on one hand.
oldskool
i also have only been playing retro shooters since feburary of 2022. i first started with the doom 64 pc port and immediately fell in love. i am a huge fan of the art style of retro shooters, as i think being limited on pixel count makes artists have to get more creative with the limits being put on what they are trying to create. it adds to much to creature design and world design. the sound design is also one of the best parts. not only do most have very old school metal sounds that i love, but the compression of the sound adds a great texture to the sound. same goes for any sound design. enemy sounds, item sound effects, general world sounds. since retro shooters are more limited in terms of technology for the game, the best have to put more effort in the little things. sounds that grab you, visuals that burn into your brain, worlds that can't feel as immersive as new hyper realistic games because of technological advancements. they had to rely on making it charming, unique, striking and impactful. of course, i still play modern games, and don't hate them by any means, but i do find a beauty in the art that comes from retro shooters.
i have been picking up any retro shooters i can find since then. random packs on steam, remastered additions of other games ported to pc, etc. also picking up doom mods as well.

horror movies i also haven't always loved. i started watching them more in high school, as horror themes in my media started to become more and more present in middle school. really once i became an adult i really watched more and most of my media consumption now is horror movies or people talking about horror movies. (love dead meat!) japanese horror movies stuck out to me the most when i first started watching. whether it be the subtle, quiet erie horror like the grudge, or the intense violent movies of takashi miike.
